Tensions with covid beds in Kyiv and 4 regions, stability in western region - Stepanov

Currently, in Ukraine, the situation with hospital places in Kyiv and Kyiv region, Zhytomyr, Odesa, and Mykolaiv regions is tense.

Health Minister Maksym Stepanov stated this at a briefing on March 30, Ukrainska Pravda reports.

According to Stepanov, the number of new cases has increased over the past week. A total of 98,153 cases were registered. It's not almost 13 thousand more than the week before last.

The number of hospitalized people is also increasing. If a week ago, there were about 37 thousand patients in our hospitals, now this number is about 44 thousand.

Also last week, the number of testing increased significantly. Over the past week, Ukrainians have done 577,272 PCR and rapid antigen tests–both of which are diagnostic tests–it's a plus of 46,000 compared to a week to week.

"The situation with coronavirus disease remains quite tense. The number of occupied beds is almost 54% of the total quantity of beds. This situation is different in the regions. The situation is quite tense in Kyiv, Odesa region, Mykolaiv region, Kyiv region, Zhytomyr region. There the number of filled beds is growing, and the situation is quite tense.

In the conditions of adaptive quarantine, three western regions, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, and Chernivtsi regions, show stability: the situation there has completely stabilized, we already see positive dynamics," the minister said.
