Austria will send 1.5 million euros in humanitarian aid to Ukraine
The Austrian government will send 1.5 million euros to finance humanitarian projects in Ukraine, where there has been armed conflict in the east for seven years.
Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg stated this during a speech at the Austrian National Council, Ukrinform reports.
"1.5 million euros will go to Ukraine. We must not forget: Ukraine is and will remain the biggest problem on the European continent," the minister said, commenting on the government's allocations to the Foreign Catastrophe Fund (AKF).
According to the Minister, Ukraine is a "flash spot" in the immediate vicinity of Austria.
As previously reported, during the visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi to Vienna in October 2020, Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen stated that his country would allocate 1 million euros in humanitarian aid to support the civilian population in the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine.
