Ukraine will start using the CoronaVac vaccine only after lab control - Liashko

The CoronaVac coronavirus vaccine, which arrived in Ukraine, will undergo a ten-day laboratory test before use.

Deputy Minister of Health, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine, Viktor Liashko announced this on TSN, Ukrinform reports.

"215,000 doses of CoronaVac vaccine have been delivered to Ukraine. It needs two vaccinations. Now the vaccine will pass a ten-day laboratory test. If it's allowed after that, it'll be used. But only the 215,000 doses for two vaccinations will be used. The first vaccination will be done, and in 24 days, the second," Liashko said.

According to him, it's a question to the supplier company as to why exactly 215,000 doses of the vaccine arrived.

"This company pays penalties for late deliveries. But we hope that the contract will be fulfilled soon, which is 1.9 million doses of the vaccine," the chief sanitary doctor said.

As Rubryka reported, on March 25, a plane with the first batch of vaccines from the Chinese company Sinovac Biotech landed at Boryspil Airport.

Earlier, it was announced that the first batch of Sinovac Biotech vaccines would arrive in March. In the first tranche, 700 thousand doses were expected. In total, the company must deliver 1.9 million doses of the drug.
