Number of Covid-19 patients continues to increase in Kyiv hospitals

The number of coronavirus patients continues to increase in Kyiv hospitals. Currently, there's the largest number of patients since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko announced this at a briefing, Ukrinform reports.

"Today, the capital's hospitals have the largest number of patients since the beginning of the pandemic. The course of the disease has become more complicated. We have more and more patients in serious conditions and those needing oxygen support. 41 of them are children, 2700 patients are in serious condition. 3488 people receive oxygen support, 60 patients breathe with ventilators," Klychko said.

He noted that the occupancy of beds in municipal facilities of the capital was almost 77%.

According to the mayor, 787 people were hospitalized in Kyiv last day alone; these are patients with coronavirus, patients with suspected coronavirus, and patients with pneumonia.

Klychko also noted that last week the capital exceeded the epidemiological threshold for influenza and SARS by 22%, and it also affects the occupancy of hospitals.

He also said that 1,164 new coronavirus cases had been registered in the capital over the past 24 hours.

"1,164 infected people were detected in the city last night. 37 people died; 19 women and 18 men. A total of 3,235 deaths happened from the virus during the pandemic in the capital. And the confirmed number of cases in the city today is 157,767," Klychko said.
