The previous cause of death was an acute stroke.
The ministry said the man had a severe chronic cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other comorbidities. There were no contraindications to injecting the vaccine (allergy to any of the components of the drug).
Also, on March 15, 9 more people were vaccinated from the same bottle. COVID-19 was recorded in two of them, but the Ministry of Health didn't report any adverse reactions in these patients.
The head of the mobile team said that the patient had received the vaccination normally: the man didn't complain about his health. However, the day after vaccination, March 16, the patient was hospitalized with a stroke.
To establish the exact cause of death, the Ministry of Health appointed a pathological examination of the body of the deceased. The agency ensures it'll continue to investigate such cases in the event of death within 30 days after vaccination.
It should be noted that it's the second case of a patient's death after vaccination in Ukraine.
