Family doctors will be vaccinated against coronavirus in Ukraine

The second stage of the vaccination campaign will start in Ukraine today, at the beginning of which family doctors will be vaccinated against coronavirus.

Health Minister Maksym Stepanov announced this at a briefing, Ukrinform reports.

"On March 22, the next phase of the second stage of vaccination will begin in Ukraine; besides mobile teams, 565 stationary vaccination points will be added to the organization of vaccinations… From this week, we'll move on to the next step within the second stage of vaccination, immunizing family doctors who are in direct contact with patients," the Minister of Health said.

According to him, a total of 2,500 vaccination points will be deployed. The composition of the point will include a doctor, 2 midwives, a registrar.

Vaccination of health workers from the first stage of the vaccination campaign will also continue, as the minister added.

He mentioned that the vaccination campaign in Ukraine considered 5 stages.

The Ministry of Health has provided for holding two stages simultaneously, which will take place now.

In particular, in the first stage of vaccination, doctors of medical institutions that provide care to COVID-19 patients are vaccinated.

In the second stage, first, family doctors who are the first to come into contact with the infected will be vaccinated. At this stage of the vaccination campaign, it is planned to cover the maximum number of primary care workers.

Besides, according to Stepanov, after the new batches of vaccine are delivered, the second stage of the vaccination campaign will involve social workers, public health workers, and people over the age of 80.

Vaccination of this category of citizens who've already pre-registered for vaccination through family doctors or the application "Diia" or the Contact Center of the Ministry of Health, should begin on March 29.

As reported by Rubryka, at the briefing, Stepanov also explained why there were difficulties in obtaining a covid vaccine.
