The occupants actually destroyed a quarry in Inkerman near Sevastopol.

The Association of Reintegration of Crimea reports.

The occupation authorities started taking water from the reservoir in the former Inkerman quarry at the end of November 2020. The water intake worked for about a month, less than expected.

In early December, the Russian authorities in Sevastopol reported that in a week about 80,000 cubic meters of water had been pumped out of the lake. Earlier it was reported about their intention to take a million cubic meters from the lake.

According to media reports, residents of Inkerman opposed the decision of the Russian authorities in Sevastopol to take water from the lake in the former quarry.

This lake was considered one of the oldest bodies of water, formed several thousand years ago on the site of an ancient quarry on the outskirts of the town of Inkerman in the immediate vicinity of the Inkerman Cave Monastery. It was thought that the pond came from a sacred spring.

One of the characteristics was the depth of the lake at the deepest point: there were almost 60 meters from the water surface to the silt. Today, only silt and stones remain.
