Avakov comments on returning "Medvedchuk pipe" to Ukraine: Zelenskyi didn't hesitate

Regarding the situation with the pipeline, which is connected with the People's Deputy from "OPZZH" Viktor Medvedchuk, there are several criminal cases in Ukraine. In particular, such criminal cases are being investigated by law enforcement officers within the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The head of the ministry Arsen Avakov stated this in an interview with the journalist Dmytro Hordon.

"With this pipe, there are some proceedings which are also at our ministry, including. This pipe vulgarly (removed from the property of our state – ed.)… Rivne, attention! The regional court made the decision that this pipe doesn't belong to Ukraine. And it was taken away…" Avakov told.

According to him, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi didn't hesitate at all with the materials of the case on the alienation of the Ukrainian section of the Samara-West direction oil pipeline, which is connected with Medvedchuk, that this asset should be returned to state control.

"He didn't hesitate. As soon as he got acquainted with the facts… He's such a person, he said: 'Yes, it's horror!' And at such a moment, I'm ready to be the Minister of Internal Affairs. It's good. And there are moments when I don't want to," Avakov said.

Separately, he said that the decision to impose sanctions on Medvedchuk and companies under his control had been developed since the fall of last year.

To recap, on February 19, the National Security and Defense Council imposed sanctions against Viktor Medvedchuk, his wife Oksana Marchenko, and 6 other people.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksii Danilov stated that sanctions against Medvedchuk and his wife were imposed because of terrorist financing.

The head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Ivan Bakanov, stated that the decision to impose sanctions on individuals was based, in particular, on materials held by the Security Service of Ukraine.
