RBC-Ukraine reports referring to sources in law enforcement agencies.
The Office of the Prosecutor General, on behalf of the head of the department Iryna Venediktova, served the People's Deputy of Ukraine on the facts of voting at the Rada plenary session instead of another People's Deputy ("button-pressing").
This is the first case of a prosecution under Art. 364-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
RBC-Ukraine sources report that the notice of charge was served to People's Deputy Vladislav Poliak (the Dovira group).
The Prosecutor General announced on her Facebook page that the People's Deputy had been summoned to the Prosecutor General's Office on February 11 to serve a notice of suspicion, but didn't appear and didn't report the reasons for his absence.
"A written notice of charge in the manner prescribed by the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine was sent to the Office of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, at the place of the parliamentarian's residence, to his e-mail and other means of communication known to the prosecution," she wrote.
"During the consideration of amendments to the draft law on the circulation of agricultural land, the People's Deputy repeatedly conducted impersonal voting using a personal card of a colleague," Venediktov added.
According to the CHESNO movement, Poliak actually pressed the button three times during the voting on February 21, 2020. Criminal proceedings against the deputy were opened on the same day.
The notice was handed over under Art. 364-2 of the Criminal code: voting of the People's Deputy instead of the other deputy. In case of proof of guilt, he can receive a fine of 3 to 5 thousand non-taxable minimum incomes.
Poliak was elected a People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation in the №73 constituency (Zakarpattia region) as a non-partisan, self-nominated candidate. He was a member of the "For the Future" parliamentary group until December 20, 2019. As CHESNO reports, since June 2020, the deputy is a member of the Dovira group.
In 2015, he was a deputy of the Zakarpattia Regional Council of the 7th convocation from the "Vidrodzhenia" party; in 2010, he was a deputy of the Vynohradiv City Council of the 6th convocation from the "Party of Regions" party.
