50% of Ukrainians polled support blocking Medvedchuk's channels

The decision to stop broadcasting on 112 Ukraine, NewsOne, and ZIK is supported by 49% of Ukrainians, and since imposing sanctions, the level of support for this decision has increased by 7%.

This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the "Rating" Sociological Group on February 6-8, 2021.

According to the poll, 78% of Ukrainians know that President Volodymyr Zelenskyi has implemented the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to impose sanctions against 112 Ukraine, NewsOne, and ZIK, while 21% don't.

Meanwhile, 49% of respondents support the decision to stop broadcasting these TV channels, 41% don't support it. Since imposing sanctions, support for the decision has risen from 42% to 49%, while the number of critics has fallen from 47% to 41%.

"It's important that among respondents who know about the decision, the level of support is even higher (57%), and the number of critics is smaller (37%)," a statement said.

As noted, 72% of respondents support the introduction of state sanctions against individuals and legal entities of Ukraine, if their activities harm the interests of the state (46% unequivocally support, 26% rather support).

On the other hand, if there's evidence of involvement of these persons in terrorist activities or separatism, the level of support for sanctions against them increases to 85% (67% unequivocally support, 18% rather support).

The survey was conducted among the population of Ukraine, aged 18 and older in all regions, except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas. Sample population: 2500 respondents. Survey method: telephone interviews using a computer, based on a random sample of mobile phone numbers. The error of representativeness of the study with a confidence level of 0.95: not more than 2.0%.

As reported, Zelenskyi imposed sanctions on Medvedchuk's colleague Kozak and his TV channels for 5 years. Zelenskyi called this decision difficult.

Besides, the National Security and Defense Council blocked the company, which has 7 private planes, including Kozak's personal plane.

In response, OPZZH stated it was initiating impeachment proceedings against Zelenskyi.

On February 4, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy sent an official letter to the YouTube administration to block the sanctioned TV channels.
