As Supreme Commander-in-Chief, I'll be vaccinated together with our military - Zelenskyi
President Volodymyr Zelenskyi plans to be vaccinated against COVID-19 together with service people after Ukrainian doctors receive the vaccine.
He said this in an interview with Ukrainian TV channels during the "Ukraine 30. Coronavirus: Challenges and Responses" forum, which began in Kyiv.
"I'll definitely be vaccinated with our military. As Commander-in-Chief, I must do this. It'll happen in the first part, but in the second stage," the president said.
According to him, almost 200,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine should first arrive for Ukrainian doctors who come into contact with COVID-19 patients.
"We now have direct negotiations with countries that will donate their surpluses. We already have contact with Poland," Zelenskyi said.
He also noted that he was ready to get vaccinated against coronavirus live.
"We all need to show people vaccinations live. There's no other way out, only on myself," the president stated.
Zelenskyi also advocates for his parents to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
"It's important to show that we're not afraid to vaccinate our parents because of their age. I believe we should do this," he stressed.
The President noted that certain quarantine restrictions for people who've been vaccinated or relapsed into COVID-19 may be lifted in Ukraine.
"We can't always be in a tense format of restrictions," Zelenskyi summed up.
