Maliuska: first auctions for sale of prisons will begin in February 2021
The Minister of Justice Denys Maliuska states that the first auctions for the sale of prisons will begin in February 2021.
He told about it on the air of "Ukrainian Radio."
"We expect the auctions to start this month, in February. It is likely that the announcement about the start of auctions will be in about a week or two. That is, the process has already begun. We've already submitted documents for privatizing the first prison to the State Property Fund this Friday… By the end of March, I think we'll understand who the buyer is and what amount he will pay," Maliuska said..
It was previously planned that a large sale of prisons in Ukraine would take place during the summer and autumn of 2020, but, as the minister said in late December, "many bureaucratic obstacles" stood in the way.
They planned to sell abandoned large complexes, which no one uses, but taxpayers' money is spent for their protection and maintenance.
