UkraineInvest: Ukraine opens over 50 representative offices for foreign investors
Currently, priority is given to projects to attract investment to the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine.
During the "Minerals of the Future" press conference, dedicated to the presentation of Ukraine's investment potential, Roman Opimakh, Head of the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine, and Serhii Tsivkach, Executive Director of UkraineInvest, spoke about future opportunities to attract foreign investment to Ukraine. Rubryka reports.
Ukraine Invest is the only government office responsible for attracting and supporting investments in Ukraine by foreign investors. Investment began in the 2000s and gradually increased: in 2019, there were already 5.2 billion of accumulated foreign investment during all years, and in 2020, it was 4.7 billion dollars.
After the President soon signs law on stimulating significant investments in Ukraine's economy, UkraineInvest will become the institution supporting investment projects created jointly by Ukrainian and foreign investors as investment babysitters.
According to Serhii Tsivkach, their cooperation with the State Service means the possibility of an inflow of investments for the state-owned enterprise, the creation of new jobs, the attraction of new technologies, and European approaches to the management of these projects. Currently, the State Service of Geology and Subsoils presents 30 projects in which Ukraine Invest will involve investments from foreign partners, or investments co-financed by Ukrainian and foreign investors.
In order to successfully implement the project, UkraineInvest cooperates with business associations in target countries and Ukrainian diasporas abroad. In 2020, UkraineInvest began cooperating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2021, they plan to attract diplomatic representatives in those countries where the target investors are. Thus, UkraineInvest plans to create 50-70 information points for investors.
