Zelenskyi discussed balancing gas tariffs for population

Volodymyr Zelenskyi set a task for the government to resolve the issue of gas tariffs for the population urgently.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, acting Minister of Energy Yurii Vitrenko, Minister of Finance Serhii Marchenko, Minister of Social Policy Maryna Lazebna, head of the OPU Andrii Yermak, and his deputies took part in the energy meeting with the president.

"Gas tariffs for the population must be fair. The price of gas is rising on the market because of weather and other reasons that have developed in Europe, and we cannot allow the price to rise for our citizens," Zelenskyi stressed.

As reported at the meeting, the Cabinet of Ministers is preparing systemic solutions on building a balance in the energy market.

Yurii Vitrenko presented a preliminary plan to reduce gas tariffs significantly and set a price that would be fair from the consumer's point of view.

The solutions, discussed at the meeting, include maintaining macro-financial stability, developing fair competition in the market, and helping to avoid financial imbalances.
