Ukrainian diplomats discuss Zelenskyi's task implementation of economizing foreign policy

Ukrainian diplomats discussed ways and tools to execute President Volodymyr Zelenskyi's task of economizing foreign policy.

According to the Foreign Ministry's press service, they discussed this during the plenary session "Economic Diplomacy: Promoting Ukrainian Exports and Attracting Foreign Investment" at a conference of heads of foreign diplomatic missions of Ukraine.

As noted, the session, chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister (CDTO) Dmytro Senik, was devoted to developing economic diplomacy tools to carry out the President's task of economizing foreign policy and promoting Ukrainian business.

"In his speech, Deputy Minister paid special attention to the practical aspects of applying key performance indicators (KPIs) of foreign diplomatic missions in the economic field," the statement said.

The plenary session dedicated to promoting Ukrainian exports was attended by Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine, Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka, Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection Vladyslava Mahaletska, and Director of the Export Promotion Office Tetiana Miskova.

Diplomats and economists discussed the opening of foreign markets for Ukrainian food producers, the conclusion of new trade agreements, and exchanged views on the most promising sectors to expand the Ukrainian economy.

"It is extremely important that all departments involved in the promotion of Ukrainian exports, promptly exchange plans and information, complementing each other," Senik said.

The plenary session also raised Ukraine's image issue among investors, strengthening the protection of investors' rights. In addition, they noted the importance of the law "On state support of investment projects with significant investments" recently adopted by the Verkhovna Rada.

Vladyslav Rashkovan, Deputy Executive Director in Ukraine at the International Monetary Fund, informed the heads of foreign diplomatic missions about the peculiarities of working with international financial institutions in a pandemic.
