Ukrainian delegation to TCG: repeal of law on Donbas could undermine negotiation process with Russia

The one-year extension of the law on the special order of local self-government in separate districts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions will contribute to the peaceful settlement of the situation under political agreements.

The Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group reports in their Telegram.

The delegation stressed that this law was provisioned in paragraph 3 of the protocol following the Trilateral Contact Group's consultations on joint steps aimed at implementing the peace plan of President Petro Poroshenko and the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin on September 5, 2014.

The Ukrainian delegation to the TCG noted that the repeal of the law could lead to the Russian Federation accusing of disrupting the peace settlement and undermining the negotiation process.

Today, the Verkhovna Rada extended Article 1 of the Law "On the special order of local self-government in separate districts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions" until December 31, 2021. 304 people's deputies voted for the decision.
