Yanukovych wants to be present at Maidan case court hearing

Ex-president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych wants to take part in the court hearing on choosing a measure of restraint for him in the case of Maidan dispersal on February 18-20, 2014 via video conferencing.

Yanukovych's lawyer Vitalii Serdiuk reported about it on Facebook.

"On December 9, at 2:45 p.m., Kyiv Pechersk District Court will consider the GPO's request to choose a measure of restraint in the Maidan case for the fourth Ukrainian president. Viktor Yanukovych demands personal participation in the trial, the involvement of victims, and interrogation of witnesses," the lawyer wrote.

According to Serdiuk, Yanukovych appealed to the Pechersk District Court with a request to ensure his personal participation, as already done in this case by the Sviatoshynskyi court in 2016 (video interrogation).

Yanukovych's defense offers to hear both sides: the then authorities and Maidan supporters. According to Serdiuk, it's necessary to interrogate Mykola Azarov, Vitalii Zakharchenko, Oleksandr Yakymenko, and others publicly, and Maidan representatives: Arsenii Yatseniuk, Petro Poroshenko, Andrii Parubii, Oleksandr Turchynov, Yurii Lutsenko, and Davyd Zhvania.

The lawyer stated that he was handing over 15 volumes of materials to the court and would demand their public study. They allegedly confirm the involvement of "representatives of the post-Maidan authorities" in the shootings on Maidan.
