Imported coronavirus vaccines to be exempt from VAT - Prime Minister
Coronavirus vaccines that Ukraine will purchase next year will be exempt from value-added tax.
Denys Shmyhal stated this at a government meeting on Wednesday.
"Coronavirus vaccines will also not be subject to value-added tax. This applies to all potential vaccines that we will purchase next year," Shmyhal said.
He also noted that the government had previously allocated a subvention of 1.5 billion hryvnias to provide hospitals with oxygen, but they wouldn't manage to complete part of the supply of oxygen equipment by the end of the year. Therefore, the government plans to adopt a resolution to extend the deadline for receiving such equipment next year. It will make it possible to meet the oxygen needs of Ukrainian hospitals fully, the Prime Minister stressed.
Today it became known that the United Kingdom became the first country in the world to approve the coronavirus vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech for widespread use.
As reported earlier, the American company Pfizer has completed testing of the COVID vaccine: it is 95% effective.
To recap, on November 9, Pfizer and BioNTech announced that their candidate for the COVID-19 vaccine had shown 90 percent effectiveness in protecting people who had not been previously infected with the coronavirus. It is established that protection is achieved in 28 days after the start of vaccination, which comprises a two-dose regimen.
