Eurocontrol has finally approved Ukraine's accession to the Joint Route Charges System and set the size of the charges for air navigation services for 2021.

The Minister of Infrastructure Vladislav Kryklii announced this.

The system determined the amount of route charges for air navigation services for 2021 for Ukraine: in the air area over the country and in the international air area over high seas (Green Zone), where the liability for air traffic services is delegated to Ukraine by the international community.

"What does it give?

  1. annual recalculation of rates for air navigation services for UkSATSE and setting current rates on January 1 of each year in order to cover the costs of providing services;
  2. new potential opportunities to attract additional transit traffic over the Black Sea," the minister wrote.

"Completing an important stage of European integration processes in air navigation gives Ukraine a significant advantage. It will allow introducing a European system of creation and payment for air navigation services," the head of UkSATSE Andrii Yarmak commented.

Ukraine's full technical integration into the Eurocontrol Joint Route Charges System also involves increasing the effectiveness of consultations with airlines on the national cost base and investment projects. In addition, processing Eurocontrol invoices for air navigation on behalf of Ukraine will ensure almost 100% of their payment by airlines. Meanwhile, the advantage of technology integration for airlines will be the issuing and payment for air navigation services according to standard and user-friendly procedures
