Klitschko stated why mass COVID-19 testing is impossible

Conducting mass COVID-19 testing is technically difficult because laboratories will not have time to process a very large number of tests in a short time.

Vitalii Klitschko stated this at a briefing on November 23.

"None of the big countries does mass testing of its citizens. It's too difficult, technically. Laboratories will not have time to process a very large number of tests in a short time," Klitschko said.

Klitschko noted that free tests for coronavirus in public health facilities are done on patients with suspected COVID-19, i.e. upon the doctor's recommendation.

"You need to call the family doctor, not go to the hospital. Because the key thing today is not to create a mass gathering of people. There, some people can be infected," Klitschko stressed.

Klitschko noted that the testing rate in the capital is the highest in Ukraine and is over 350 tests per 100,000 residents.

"Since the beginning of the pandemic, almost 227,000 samples of biomaterial have been tested with PCR, and almost 80,000 tests have been performed by EIA to detect antibodies in communal medical institutions and a laboratory center," Klitschko said.

He noted that mobile teams of doctors continue to work, taking samples of material from patients at home for examination. Since the beginning of their work, they have taken almost 139,000 samples of biomaterial for PCR tests.
