Ministry of Transformation plans to provide schools and hospitals with the Internet by the end of 2021
The Ministry plans to connect social infrastructure facilities to the fixed Internet by the end of 2021.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov stated this on the air of the "Morning at 24" program.
"The project of providing Ukrainians with high-speed Internet is a state's priority. Only by implementing it, we will implement all other projects. One of our goals is to connect every object of social infrastructure (schools, hospitals, libraries) in Ukraine to the fixed Internet. Thus, residents of settlements where such institutions are located will also be able to connect," Mykhailo Fedorov said.
The primary goal is to provide 95% of the population with access to high-speed mobile Internet in 3 years.
"Previously, large cities used to have access to high-speed mobile Internet. Remote regions, small towns, and villages have always had problems with this. The Ministry of Digital Transformation is speeding up Ukraine's connection to high-speed Internet.
Currently, more than 20,000 settlements throughout Ukraine are connected to 4G. In October alone, over 300,000 Ukrainians received 4G for the first time. And for the entire period of the project since July, over 4.7 million Ukrainians have received 4G.
Meanwhile, we are also preparing Ukraine for the launch of 5G. We approved the 5G Development Plan last week. And in about a year and a half, operators will start getting licenses, and this technology will appear in Ukraine," the Ministry of Digital Transformation said.
