World Bank will provide Ukraine with $30.3 million to fight coronavirus
In May 2020, Ukraine signed an agreement with the World Bank to get an additional financing loan of $135 million for health care.
The Minister of Health of Ukraine, Maksym Stepanov, announced this at a briefing on November 12.
The Minister said they would use these funds for re-equipping and training of emergency medical staff of supporting hospitals, purchasing medical equipment and consumables to prevent COVID-19.
Stepanov stressed that $30.3 million was provided for measures to combat coronavirus infection.
"Intensive cooperation is being carried out with UN agencies to purchase medical equipment, materials, and technical assistance for hospitals and laboratory centers. We have already approved the specification for equipment and materials," the minister said.
According to him, Ukraine will buy 1.2 million PCR tests, PCR diagnostic devices, and other equipment for $23 million.
"This equipment will be delivered to our laboratories and laboratory centers," Stepanov said.
