Zelenskyi undertook to contribute almost 6% of GDP on defense and national security
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi has implemented a decision of the National Security and Defense Council to finance this sector in the amount of almost 6% of GDP. Be it noted, these figures are included in the budget draft for 2021.
They published the related decree on the president's website.
In particular, Zelenskyi instructed to take into account the costs of national security and defense of Ukraine in the amount of not less than 5.93% of GDP when finalizing the law on the budget-2021. In monetary terms, funding should amount to at least 267.25 billion hryvnias.
Including at least 233.111 billion hryvnias should come from the state budget general fund, 14.1 billion hryvnias should come from the special fund. In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers should have the right to provide state guarantees in the amount of 20 billion hryvnias to repay debts of companies related to Ukraine's defense capacity.
Main costs:
- cash collateral and wages, almost 150 billion hryvnias;
- medicines and dressings, UAH 749.1 million;
- food, 5,201 billion hryvnias;
- payment for utilities and energy, 4.844 billion hryvnias;
- production, purchase, modernization, and repair of armaments and military (special) equipment, UAH 39.726 billion;
- construction (purchase) of housing, 2.5 billion hryvnias.
