He stated this on the air of the "Svoboda Slova" program on ICTV.
"Today we are talking about one person, the chairperson of the Constitutional Court, Tupytskyi… It seems to me that to get out of this situation, for people not having to worry about how to pass this or that law, he should simply resign," the President said.
According to him, after that, they can "calmly pass to updating the CCU."
The President stressed that the election of the new composition of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine should take place on a competitive basis, transparently and openly.
"Everyone will look through a microscope who gets into the new composition of the Constitutional Court," the head of state said.
Zelenskyi believes that appointing judges shouldn't be based on quotas from the president or parliament in particular.
"I suggested an independent selection of judges. So that observers or members of the commission, that will sit and select the judges, could give guarantees. I do not want to influence the Constitutional Court. Although, if I did, they wouldn't make such a decision. But I still don't want to. I don't want to have any proposals for this or that candidate. I came from another life where I have no relationship with the judges. So I can only approve them if our professionals developed the proposals together with our partners. I can appeal to law enforcement officers to check their integrity and approve. That's all," the President stressed.
He clarified that after resetting the Constitutional Court, the work of new judges must comply with the principles of integrity.
Meanwhile, Zelenskyi is certain that the best way out of the constitutional crisis is the voluntary resignation of the entire current composition of the CCU.
As reported, the Constitutional Court plans to consider the case on the constitutionality of the language law internally on November 3.
To recap, on October 27, the Constitutional Court repealed Art. 366-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on criminal liability for entering inaccurate data in the declaration, and also declared the powers of the NAPC to control and verify declarations, their round-the-clock access to the register of declarations, and lifestyle monitoring unconstitutional.
The NAPC stated that the judges made the relevant decision in their own interests. According to the anti-corruption agency, two members of the CCU entered inaccurate data in their declarations and are now probably trying to avoid responsibility.
In turn, the Constitutional Court stated about "constant pressure" from anti-corruption bodies.
