Venice Commission chairperson offered to conduct an examination due to CCU situation

Gianni Buquicchio offered an examination proceeding by the Venice Commission on the situation around the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

The chairperson of the Venice Commission offered this during a telephone conversation with President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the press service of the President's Office reports.

Buquicchio also stressed that in no case can such important issues as the existence of the High Anti-Corruption Court, the activities of the Deposit Guarantee Fund, and land reform be jeopardized. In addition, the President emphasized that the common goal today is to restore confidence in the judiciary and especially in the Constitutional Court.

Volodymyr Zelenskyi, in turn, invited the Venice Commission to work together on a broad judicial reform in Ukraine and expressed gratitude for the stern stance of the Venice Commission on the illegal annexation of Crimea.

To recap, earlier the chairperson of the Venice commission spoke against the dismissal of CCU judges in his letter.
