CCU decision creates a serious problem for relations with international partners – the Foreign Minister

The president and government are currently looking for a way out of the situation, as Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said at an online briefing.

"Yesterday's decision of the Constitutional Court creates a serious problem, a problem not only for the internal development of Ukraine but also for our relations with partners who have contributed to the creation of an anti-corruption infrastructure in Ukraine," he said.

Meanwhile, Kuleba assured that the President and the Cabinet of Ministers, including the Foreign Ministry, are "resolutely and crucially" determined to overcome the consequences of the problem created by the Constitutional Court decision.

"You will soon see solid steps in this direction," the minister promised.

According to him, the Foreign Ministry's task in this situation is to find the best ways to solve the problem together with our partners and ensure that the anti-corruption infrastructure in Ukraine works properly.

"We will do it not because someone from outside asks us to. We will do it because the fight against corruption is in Ukraine's interests, the Ukrainian people's interests, and in line with strengthening the welfare of Ukrainians and further movement of Ukraine through European integration," Kuleba said.

We remind that in the ruling from October 27, the Constitutional Court specified that criminal liability for false declaration is "excessive punishment."

On October 27, the Constitutional Court repealed Art. 366-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on criminal liability for entering inaccurate data in the declaration, and also declared the powers of the NAPC to control and verify declarations, their round-the-clock access to the register of declarations, and lifestyle monitoring unconstitutional.

The NAPC stated that the judges made the relevant decision in their own interests. According to the anti-corruption agency, two members of the CCU entered inaccurate data in their declarations and are now probably trying to avoid responsibility.

In turn, the Constitutional Court stated about "constant pressure" from anti-corruption bodies.
