Zelenskyi commented on Ukraine's entering NATO: It is not a fantasy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyi considers the only chance to preserve Ukraine is its membership in NATO. The president doesn't think the prospects of joining the Alliance is a fantasy.
Zelenskyi stated this in an interview with the BBC.
According to him, Ukraine is going toward NATO. Membership in the Alliance will ensure security in the region.
"Yes, it's true, we have a powerful army of 200,000 (people – ed.). We are updating equipment. But it's not enough. There's the only chance, I say this to the United States and the EU, if you don't want to lose Ukraine, you need to support it. NATO membership is a very important signal to the Russian Federation, and it's the most significant support," Zelenskyi said.
The President added that he did not consider the prospect of Ukraine's membership in NATO a fantasy.
"The war between Ukraine and Russia was also like fantasy. Nobody believed in it. We had families. Countries lived side by side. We respected each other. And now we have a war, now we have hatred. Ukrainians don't want to communicate with the Russians. So if someone says that NATO is a fantasy, well, let's see," Zelenskyi added.
