Belarus crisis carries the risk of a new break on the European continent.

The French President Emmanuel Macron stated this during his speech at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly. The press relations service of the Elysee Palace published the president's text.

Macron said that the Normandy format helped to achieve progress in resolving the Ukrainian crisis.

"But the situation in Belarus carries the risk of a new break on our continent. We admire the courage of the Belarusian people. We must respect their striving and we are on their side," the French president said.

He underlined that in this case, it is necessary to "establish a national political dialogue and avoid any outside interference."

Macron also said he saw no other way to overcome the crisis in Belarus than through OSCE-mediated dialogue.
