Nearly 40% of Britons have made a donation to Ukraine

More than a third of Britons have donated to humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Even a year after russia's full-scale war, the vast majority of the population are concerned about russian aggresion.

37% of the UK population have made some kind of donation, around 81% are still concerned about the impact of the conflict, the Guardian reports.

John Sentamu, the former Anglican bishop, said the British public had shown "extraordinary generosity to the Ukrainian people".

"I am not surprised that so many people in our country continue to worry about the war. We must remember that every prayer, every gift, every action brings hope to our brothers and sisters in Ukraine." Sentamu says.

17.7 million Ukrainians have been in need of assistance, and more than 13 million people are unable to return to their homes since russia started its full-scale war in Ukraine.

A year into russia's invasion, the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, run by UK charities, has now raised more than £400m, including £25m matched by the UK government. Several faith-based charities have warned that the British government's support for Ukraine must not come at the expense of other areas of the world in crisis. There have been concerns in the international development community that the UK aid fund has been drained significantly by projects supporting Ukrainian refugees who have come to Britain.
